The natural park of the Delta Del Ebro can be found a little more than an hours journey from Alcossebre. The short traveling distance combined with the variety of activities available in the area make this an ideal day trip destination; on the one hand to enjoy the natural environment, and on the other, to delight in the excellent gastronomy of the region which is based on local seasonal products.

As indicated by its name, this natural park consists of the wetlands and sedimentary grounds of the Delta del Ebro, the most important river of Spain and from which the Iberian Peninsula ( Spain and Portugal) takes its name.

The great expanse of coastal wetland makes this a prime destination for migratory birds and , thus, a paradise for birdwatchers.

Up to 343 different species have been identified in the area so a successful outing is assured.

The park also has a series of observatories in distinct areas of natural interest and guided tours and courses are regularly organized.

The Delta del Ebro is ideal for practicing adventure sports; sailing, kayaking, kitesurfing, hiking, cycling on level ground, fishing…the possibility of sailing a Catalunyan “ llagut” ( a fishing vessel unique to this area) or running along one of the signed routes are just some of the options available. There is also an adventure park.

For those that prefer more restful pursuits, a trip along the River Ebro is a great alternative. Boats with a bar service aboard allow visitors to explore the length of the River and the natural park in comfort. It is also possible to have lunch on board at the end of the excursion; an ideal way to discover the local dishes based on rice ( which is grown extensively in the wetlands) and fish…….. such dishes can also be enjoyed in the many other  local eating places.

If you are looking for a day out with a difference, the natural park of the Delta del Ebro is a magnificent option.
